Providing practical, hands-on, first aid instruction for the injured field K9.

ABOUT US…

We are a small group of veterinary professionals that has united over our love for working dogs and a strong desire to support their human partners. We have witnessed the incredible bond that develops between a handler and their dog, both on the job and at home. Our mission is to help protect this bond in our own way: by better preparing handlers to care for their K9 partners should they become injured in the field. In doing so, we hope to give back to a community that has always been serving and protecting us, seen or unseen.

Our program is unique in several ways. All of our instructors are veterinarians or veterinary nurses with years of practical experience. The Almeidas have received additional instructor certification through the National Association of Veterinary Emergency Medical Services. Although originally North Carolina-based, we have since expanded our reach to the surrounding areas but are by no means limited to these states. We travel to you, rather than the other way around. We bring supplies with us, including handouts for attendees to follow along in lecture, laboratory materials and models (including live dogs), and provide each attendee with a personalizable Field Response Operational Guidebook (FROG) containing details of emergency medical care in a ring-bound, travel-sized, flip book that fits snugly in your first aid kit. Program content is tailored to your department’s needs and number of attendees. Additionally, we recognize that department resources for this type of training may be limited. As much as possible, we try to limit program costs to supplies and travel, providing our time and other materials at no charge. Wherever possible we try to obtain donated laboratory supplies, further lightening the financial load on the departments using our services.

We know there are many K9 first aid programs out there to choose from, but we appreciate the time you are taking to explore our website! Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or clarification. We look forward to working with you!
